Informações Gerais
The transport of people and goods between countries has a relevant impact on the socioeconomic development and, for this reason, road and rail transport agreements between neighboring and nearby countries are primordial. ANTT is the body responsible for enforcing and coordinating the International Land Transport Agreement (ATIT), which has as signatories the active countries of Southern Common Market (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay), Chile, Peru and Bolivia. In addition, there are bilateral agreements of transport with border countries, such as Venezuela, Guyana and French Guyana. The issues are handled by the International Relations Advisory (internacional@antt.gov.br), which represents ANTT in the international transport agreements and in the Working Group nº 5 of Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
Moreover, ANTT seeks to learn and adopt the best practices of regulation and governance recommended by international institutions — such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) — or by cooperation with the corresponding agencies in other countries, which allow exchanging knowledge and experiences.
Transporter registration and international transport regulation activities are carried out by the Passenger Transport Services Superintendency (supas@antt.gov.br) and by the Road Cargo Transport and Multimodal Services Superintendency (suroc@antt.gov.br). The inspection of these international services is done by the Inspection Superintendency (sufis@antt.gov.br).
The International Relations Advisory is the office that supports the Board of Directors and the other departments of ANTT in international matters. Its main assignments are:
-
Promotion of dialogue with international organisms and institutions aiming at an exchange of experiences;
-
Coordination of technical and financial cooperation activities with national and foreign entities and management of contracts with international financial organizations;
-
Development and execution of ANTT´s International Affairs Plan;
-
Coordination of ANTT´s international representations, as well as the relations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with diplomatic foreign missions;
-
Advisory in subjects related to international transport of cargo and passengers; and
-
Relations with international organisms in conventions, agreements and treats, as well as in conjunction with other bodies of Brazilian Government.
